Device News: A lot new BlinkStick products

BlinkStick Nano
BlinkStick Nano is a tiny version of the BlinkStick. Like the blink(1) from ThingM it comes with 2 very bright LEDs and can be used as an indicator light at your Notebook, Raspberry or whatever.
Nano

BlinkStick Flex
Flex is also a very tiny USB device. It combines a device which is basicly the BlinkStick Pro, with a LED strip. The LED strip itself includes 32 addressable LEDs which can be controlled seperatly.
Flex

BlinkStick Pro Smart Pixel
A Smart Pixel is just a single LED. Use as much Pixels as you like (up to 192 Pixel for one BlinkStick Pro) and chain them together. Like the LEDs in the Flex LED Strip they can be controlled seperatly.
Smart Pixel

BlinkStick Pro LED Adapter
It was already possible to connect your BlinkStick Pro with a IKEA Dioder but wrong wired it could lead to a burned Dioder controller. Now BlinkStick delivers a controller which can easliy connect the BlinkStick Pro to a LED Strip and a power supply.
LED Adapter

All in all BlinkStick offers the biggest pool of different devices. I think there is a fitting RGB LED device for any project. BlinkStick also offers APIs for every purpose and a growing community and service at the BlinkStick Forums

Device control codes

A lot of people asking me how to communicate with the different devices. Right, sometimes it took a lot of research to find out what codes are needed to control the devices by HID library. Regarding to this, i´ve decided to create a reference for the control bytes. The small reference can be used by everybody realizing own project with any device.

The reference can be found here:
Device control byte reference

Please feel free to use it. If you need an information cannot be found in this reference, feel also free to leave a comment or contact me.

  • Manual Pause: Static blue
  • Locked PC: Static blue
  • Incoming ESTOS call: Pulse red
  • Connected ESTOS call: Static red
  • Available: Static green
  • NEW! Remote connections: Static cyan

More light settings for functions like "Call in absence" etc. may follow.

Update: NotifierLight 1.2.3

A new update is available. Please see the changes below and feel free to download it.

ChangeLog:
  • Changed: Moved the settings items to a sub menu in TNA context.
  • Changed: The color editor has now tooltips and the color orange.
  • Changed: The Blync device is now labeled with "Blync v1"
  • Added: Import/Export function for the settings. Use this if you need the same settings for many workstations.
  • Added: Brightness track bar for the following devices: Blink1, BlinkStick devices, Busylight devices and ScreenBulb.
  • Added: Log4Net library for debug purposes.
  • Fixed: An error that broke Busylight Lync support.
Known issues: If TAPI is in use the last state won´t be changed sometimes (for example: You hang up and the light still shows "busy"). It depends on the used ATAPI library. It seems that sometimes it doesn´t give back the state correctly.

Update: NotifierLight 1.2.2

At the moment it is hard for me to keep NotifierLight and my blog updated. But there are some news I have to post in the next weeks :).
We start with a new version of NotifierLight (1.2.2). Feel free to download it and take a look at the new features.

ChangeLog:

  • Changed: The "Candle" lighttype has now a preset to the color yellow.
  • Added: Support for new devices: Blinkstick Square and Blinkstick Strip. If you have connected such a device it will appear as a Blinkstick.
  • Added: A new mode for Blinkstick. The mode WS2812_Mode3 is especially for the new Blinkstick devices. The old WS2812 mode has been changed to WS2812_Mode2. Mode3 controls any LED by hardware, with Mode2 NotifierLight itself controls up to 8 LEDs (slower).
  • Added: New Plugin: Process. It checks whether a windows process is running or not.
  • Fixed: New plugins does not appear without delete all plugin settings.
  • Fixed: The SysParams did not work correctly. It took the used disc space as free disc space.
  • Fixed: General lighttypes had a preset to null. This caused that Notiferlight keep the last light setting permanently. Now the preset is "None".
  • Fixed: Minor bugs
